Domain Name Transfer and Hosting question

Greetings,

I've made a few personal websites for my husband and for our small companies. In doing so, I've had no problem keeping up with the renewals of domain names and hosting packages.

Since then, I've been asked to do a comprehensive website for a church who is currently on a month-to-month hosting plan with yahoo.

I've been requested to seek another host (since there are so many out there who are reputable). Once this is done, I'd like to transfer their domain name as well.

My issue is that I don't want to use my personal credit card to pay for the hosting, and the church is pretty clueless about the whole domain name, hosting, web design culture.

I'm curious as to how you all suggest this be handled.

Thanks in advance!

Jan

Paypal account must be available for you for making payments. Create paypal account and load money there and then use it for online payments

Thank you for replying and your suggestion, but what happens when it's time for the church's hosting and domain name renewal, If I'm no longer involved with the project?

Jan16,

I ran into this sort of situation recently, and this is what I did. Personally, I go with Godaddy with any beginner clients, as they have GREAT customer service.

Now, to deal with payment, I simply had the client purchase a pre-paid credit card, I believe it was from Walmart, and told them to keep a certain amount on it every month for the charges. It's some greendot service that allows people to add cash to it anywhere.

Make sure that card is the card on file for the account, set it to auto-bill, and your out of the loop!

Either a prepaid as suggested, their CC number or you pay and bill them.

I mean if you can't trust your church, who can you trust?

Well now that I think about it.

some providers will accept bank transfer or western union as payment, you could go with yearly billing and ask the host to generate an invoice for you.

Yes they will. But be aware in this case you are the one who risk. You can send the money and they can be lost
