Hello to all,

I am in a situation that needs addressing, but am lost as to what to do. We have contracted a company to design/host our website and email. As part of the package, we had them design a logo for us, which we now have.

I have asked them to give us access to our email client so we could begin using that before the website was up and running. We had access to that on Thursday.

Here is the problem. I have s strong sense that they are going bust. The original company was bought out by another company. They made it clear via an email that the reason they bought the company out was to manage it better. They stated that they 'saved' it from going into liquidation.

As part of the original bespoke package, they purchased 5 domains for us. If they do go bust, how will be we able to take the domain names and use them with another company? As a back up, I am now looking for another company to work with.....

Also, what about the email? I have done nothing with that account other than send a couple of test emails, so I am losing nothing on that end.

Any ideas????

HELP!

Dave

If the company has registered your domains then you can get a domain control panel from them .............and transfer or move the domains in another account..............if domains are registered with directi then no fee for transfering the domain into another directi accout

Move before they do.

Move your hostname to a different registrar

backup your website and database.

or anything else that makes you feel secure.

forget the domain and register the domains with the company, provide you full control over the domains and hosting..........means get a cPanel for hosting and domain panel to manage the domains.......the best advice for you...if you file complaint and case against the company then it may loss of your money........just for 5 domains those you can again purchased after one year..........

Do a whois on the domain names and see if you even own them. Hint: you don't if it isn't your name on the admin part.

Chances are the company owns the domains if they provided them for free as a part of a package. If you paid for them there might be hope.

Learn your lesson and buy your own domains from now on. They host them where ever you like.

Normally donot ask your web designers to host your website in their own server. You should have found your host yourself so you can control your websites.
