I see some domains that has numbers are in high traffic, however some people suggest not to use numbers. So what do you recommend about it?

Numbers in domains are helpful sometimes and sometimes not. But if have found some domain with majorly found keyword in it, then its best to use some numbers like 123 or 111 like that.

Where would you find this site rank? Pretty sure most sites wont let you have access to a level high enough to see their stats.

I think numbers in domains can be helpful in some other way like shortening some word like 4 instead of "for" or 2 instead of "to". But, its not a factor to gain high traffic. If those websites with number in their domain have high traffic, I think it is just a coincidence.

If 2 is used instead of "To"
and 4 is used instead "for"
I do not think that is good idea.
But if your business name is 888 it is good idea to use it.

Some, one, hundreds. It doesn't matter. Unless you have access to the logs for each site or hostname there is NO WAY you can what traffic if any they get.

If you believe that you can somehow decide that a site is getting traffic because it "ranks" in a search engine you really do need to revise your "education" where marketing and optimising is concerned.

Domain have number is not good. The first reason is most people don't like it. And it feels a little strage.

If with digit domai name remains catchy - why not?

Perhaps if you have a phone based business, where people need to call your phone number, especially if you had been established before the internet began,

then it would be handy to use your phone number as the domain name. Most/All people who are customers will either know your phone number, OR you want people to remember your phone number to ensure they alwasy use the phone when possible.

Perhaps if there is some number associated with the said product, service, or business. Like the profile of a famous football player. He may be #23 on the field, and would want 23.me

It really depends on the niche of the site. According to <removed> (my personal host and my business's host), you should really only use numbers if it pertains to the subject of the site.

ie. A high school graduating class web site could be Georgetown High School Class of 2010 which translates to www.ghs10.com.

Something like that. You can really read the rest at <removed> forums.

It can be if its done right. Examples would be 711.com and 24hour.com

Hello. Actually you are right. I have seen such domain names on the namepros and they are ranked as TOP domain names there.

what about alexa ranking. I know it is not 100% accurate but it is also a very good way to get an idea if the site has good traffic or not.

No it isn't.

Alexa "statistics" are based on the relatively few "Alexa Toolbar" users and then extrapolated to show what is supposed to be all Internet users.

I prefer an "exotic" , antarctic domain like .gs, use numbers if you want to create a brand like 538 , the radio station.
