Would switching host alter a Page Rank or Alexa Rank? And could not having a host at all (just owning a Domain name) be enough to preserve your page rank/ alexa rank, and any other site ranking your site?

Nope.

Not that either matter for anything at all.

If your new web host will have poor uptime especially during PR updates that will affect your SEO.

Chrishirst i think that SiberForum was tolding that a site that goes to much time offline it will decrease his alexa ranking and Page Rank. That's a great true. That's why, a good server uptime is important in the choice of a new hosting.

To lose PR the site would have to drop the inbound links and server "downtime" is NOT going to cause that to happen.

AND if the server is down for long enough to affect the even more useless "Alexa rank", which would be several weeks, you would have more to worry about than useless measurements such as those!!!!

If you don't know, PR is not just about inbound links, it's also about the quantity (yes, Quantity) of unique content on your site.

WRONG!! PR is calculated from links ONLY

Read the formula Section 2.1.1

There is nothing in there about "Quantity of content"

Would agree with Chris there. Never heard of 'quantity of unique content' affecting PR ever in my 3 years of SEO career.

No, you wont have any problems with your pageranks as such. but be careful to have your same IP so that it doesnt cause you any troubles.

It shouldn't affect your ranking, PR, alexa rank at all, however sites on my 2nd dedicated server tend to do worse then on my 1st dedicated server. And I simply don't know why.

pagerank is calculated by the number of incoming links... so as long as the links are there - the pagerank is safe
