Hi im new toi the whole domain name thing and bought the domain name www.ash-kwil.co.uk which I have set up as web forwarding to www.ashkwil.xtreemhost.com .

When i appear in the google search it appears under xtreemhost and not ash-kwil.co.uk also as i have web forwarding on the site it also stays with the URL ash-kwil.co.uk even when on different pages of the site.

What I want to know is if i change the nameservers for my domain (names.co.uk) then will it appear in google as ash-kwil.co.uk AND will it display the correct URL on different pages.

Also when it comes to transferring a domain im notsure as i dont want it to be controlled from xtreemhost as it is a free host, but then afgain i know nothing about this..

If i search site:www.ashkwil.xtreemhost.com then i see all of the pages but if i search site:www.ash-kwil.co.uk I get no results... will the nameservers also correct this?

Sorry for all of the questions that are probabley obvious to you lot but I would appreciate soem help!

Thanks

Search engines index content at the location that it is found when it is in framesets.

"web forwarding" wraps the target site in a 1 pixel high frameset to mask the real location. If you want it to be on the new URL then you need proper hosting.

Decide which domain name will be core for you and use that domain name as a core. And install 301 redirect (good for SEO) from another one.
I suppose that is what you really need.

transferring will cost you a renewal fee most likley. and that wont fix your issue. You can tell the people hosting www.ash-kwil.co.uk to forward with masking and then it will send you to the new website which will always show your www.ash-kwil.co.uk site but will not show subfolders etc.

You dont want to actually forward (I dont think). You should tell your hosting company you want to switch out your primary domain.

Here Is Googles Answer:

Quote:
Q: I have the same content available on two domains (example.com and example2.org). How do I let Google know that the two domains are the same site?
A: Use a 301 redirect to direct traffic from the alternative domain (example2.org) to your preferred domain (example.com). This tells Google to always look for your content in one location, and is the best way to ensure that Google (and other search engines!) can crawl and index your site correctly. Ranking signals (such as PageRank or incoming links) will be passed appropriately across 301 redirects. If you're changing domains, read about some best practices for making the move.

If you can park or point it and 301 redirect the free hostname to your hostname yes it will.
