Hi everyone!
May I ask for your help? I have experience with registering my domain together with the hosting but don't have
an experience yet with regards to registering to a third party.

I already have a domain registered at GoDaddy but it's only 4 months old and I paid $14+ with a coupon for a .com with private registration.

I know that people have been suggesting Godaddy, Namecheap, Name, Enom, etc.

But what registrar is good for long term and important domains with private registration? Currently, I need to register 6 domains. 2 .com, 2 .org and 2 .net.
My worry about GoDaddy even with the coupons, is that what will happen to my domain name when renewal comes?
Is it true that GoDaddy buys your domain name or sells it to others right away because from the hosting that I had my domain registered to 2 years ago, they did hold my domain name but eventually released it after their grace period of "30 or 120 days"? I don't remember.

I was thinking of registering with Godaddy to take advantage of the free Private Registration for new domain names but I cannot find anything online that says that Private Registration will still be free during renewals as long as you register 5 domains or more.

So I'm looking for a domain registrar that is affordable, preferably has private registration that's affordable or free for 5 domains or more, is stable and reliable for important domains especially personal ones, no dns issues, what else?

I'm leaning towards namecheap but I really haven't read much experiences about them regarding my needs. Most of the reviews and comments online are by domainers so they can afford to just transfer domains to whichever registrar has the best offer and don't really need Private Registration.

Thank you and I hope coupons will work on those you will suggest. I know that domain prices today are chunk change compared to before, but I don't live in the US and with the exchange rates, I could survive for 2 weeks on 1 domain name registration with Privacy.

Thanks and Happy Holidays! Cheers!

AFAIK NameCheap no longer offers free domain privacy. The WhoisGuard Privacy Protection is offered as an additional feature for a modest price.

Yeah, there are many Registrars out there.
For instance, we offer nice Discount if you pay for 10 years.

pick 6 new domain dot info first and put them in cart shopping, and then before checkout, add all your other domain which has no privacy protect into cart. and they all now free private regis (privacy) even tho you not renew your domain yet. i tried it once the other day. its workssss
you only need to pay 6 new domain dot info for $7.02 (without coupon)+ free privacy for ALL ALL of them, including your old domain.
if you not use this 6 new domain, put them to google adsense for domain. hehehe i got all my domain hosted at godaddy

Godaddy is good even for long term. I have one of my domains that is 5 years old, no problem having it on godaddy as long you renew it.

I have had domains close to 10 years with Godaddy. But I am moving all domains away from them. Their control panel is a mouse maze. Plus I have heard too many horror stories about them recently.

I'd say go with a web host because that is what I do. For long term purposes, you want to keep everything with one provider for hosting and the domain as well. It keeps things organized and in many cases you get better value in the long run.

It will be more secure to choose Registrar that has accreditations if you want to reg a domain.
Yeah, there are some web hosts that offer domain registration, but you'd better choose Registrar for this purpose.

I'd recommend you to compare all of them and ask the Registrars about specials and discounts. then make your final decision on the Registrar's choice.

that's a smart way to handle this issue. Thanks for sharing.
btw: what do you mean under "putting them to google adsense for domain"? Do I need to route all of the registered domains to my site?
