Is it possible for me to purchase/buy only a domain name, but not to buy the web hosting service? I actually already have a web hosting place where I store all my files for the website, but the domain name is not nice

Should not be a problem at all... Certainly you can register required domain name with any hosting package attached to it. Domain registration and hosting are two different parts and are billed separately.

There is no denying the fact that you can reg domains and buy hosting separately.

Of course. Buying (or reserving) a domain name is a completely independent process. Nobody can bind you or oblige you to buy hosting when you buy a domain name.

As a matter of fact be careful, because to purchase a domain name will have a wide price range. Buying only the domain should cost less than $10 per year. If the price is higher than that is because they are probably trying to sell you a "combo", in other words domain + hosting (or other services).

Yup! You can always just get a domain without hosting. No hard and fast rule to get hosting from the same registrar.

Yeah, some companies do offer free domains within their web hosting plans.
Try to do a search, compare all possible options and choose the best one.

Domain name are always bought separately! Just set the name servers to your host.

Of course it's possible - go through a registrar instead of a webhost. Try GoDaddy or Enom.

Be sure that the company has nice reputation and has at least several accreditations.
