I wanted to know. What now? I got an offer that I like, now what do I do to finish the process? do i tell my host and domain provider about it? Most importantly, should I take the money first via PayPal, or afterwards?

Personally I wouldn't change anything until I was 100% sure the money was banked.

I suppose that you should get money for domain first, then change anything.
Contact your Registrar and ask about it.

The couple of times I have sold a site I take 50% first, then transfer then 50% after. But if you do not trust the buyer or are doing a large transaction, consider using an escrow service that holds the money while the transaction is happening.

I think you should not make change anything, until you do not receive money through bank account.

Exactly. And document EVERYTHING. I've sold a couple of sites for low five figures over the past year and while it seems like kind of a pain at the time, it's well worth it to get the buyer's signature on an actual piece of paper. What I did was print out the Flippa auction, sign it and overnight it to the buyer so they could sign it, make a copy, and send the original back.

Does this protect me legally in any way, shape, or form? I doubt it. But how many scammers are going to 1) give you their street addresss, 2) sign the auction in printed form and 3) send it back to you? None that I know of. It's just a way to make sure that the other party is serious, IMO and it works.

I sell domains on SEDO.com. Its one of the best sites to do so and I only accept transactions via escrow.com or a similar service. Paypal is too risky.

If you have a website you can sell it on Flippa.com. Both are good ways.

I suppose you aware of their fees? Some of them do find them very high.

What I do usually is transfer the website files first and wait for the payment. Once payment is received, I transfer the domains.

Like Chris said, I wouldn't do anything until the money has been received. The only exception would be if it was someone I knew personally and trusted.

"addon" domain is just a hosting term used to describe hostnames that are added to a users account rather than creating a new account with a different user name.
For DNS and transfers it makes no difference how YOUR hosting is set up.

what i mean is, what information should i give to the buyer of this site?
is it more convenient to just give him the cpanel account and password or probably i will just download the database, give it to him, push the domain and let him figure himself?

zip the files -> cPanel -> File Manager -> Compress

Export the database to SQL -> cPanel -> phpmyAdmin

send the two files to the new owner.

Job done.

Online transactions are generally risky so I think you should first receive the payment then take the necessary step.
