You should be able to, but keep in mind that if you want to also change the registrar it is best to do it a couple of months prior to the domains expiry date.

Also, if you decide you want to cancel and get a refund, the free domain will come at a fee:
Quote:
Free Domain Names: If Subscriber registers any domain name as part of a "Free Domain Name" promotion in connection with the registration, Subscriber's refund will be reduced by $10 per domain name. Subscriber will retain full ownership and control of any such domain names.

As rule that is not recommended to have domain name registration service and web hosting service from one company but in any case you can use that. As for the domain name: make sure you have administrative rights for the domain name

If domain name registration and web hosting services are being delivered separatelly to you - why not then?

I have had no problems with BlueHost, I currently have 15 domains registered and hosted through them. Just make sure to read the terms & conditions to make sure you are getting what you need for your purposes.

If you are sure that domain names are under copontrol and you do not need to over pay I suppose that you are on the right way and everything ok so far.
