You asked mms!
My take on this is that your domain name sounds like it is a sub-domain of ebay.
The domain goofbay.com does not sound in any way like it is a sub-domain.
When I see goofbay.com, I picture a site that is going to give me info of some
form about using ebay.
When I see ebay.me.uk it looks like an ebay subdomain. Personally, I feel that
when most people get to your site, on the basis of the domain name and see
that it doesn't have a real affiliation with ebay, I would be untrusting of the info
on your site. I would feel that you have tried to mislead me from the very
beginning by making me think that you are affiliated with ebay.
Like I said. You asked. Did you ask because you were looking for approval, or
did you ask because you want honest answers..?
I have a strong background in both usability and marketing . The domain you
picked "ebay.me.uk" does note bode well for branding.
No doubt you plan on building a great site that will be effective. Your desire to
do it right is evident in your posts here.
But. ...a few points to think about...
(1) a medicre domain name isn't going to help or hurt
(2) a great domain name can help a lot
(3) a bad domain name can ruin your business
That's my view.. take it or leave it!
