We all know the best registrar is GoDaddy.com but what about the worst ones? Which ones you have tried and have bad experience with. Please share it with all of us so that we stay away from it.

ive been lucky with registrars, been registered with fxdomains for several months now and their service and support is brilliant. I am also buying a domain soon from dotster so hopefully it will have the same quality as fxdomains but ill let u know how I got on with them.

Registerfly.com seems to be very unpopular on this forum; I think errors and it's lack of support have let the company down.

I'm using 1and1, it's quite ok so far, and it's the only domain registrar I've ever used.

dude 1&1.. not a good idea. Their support it the poorest ive ever had. Everything is fine until something goes wrong; then u gotta go through there call centers somewhere in Asia (for several hours) or await a useless support email for a week or so.

stay far away from RegisterFly, I have been moving my domains out of there as fast as I can.

It all started when I couldn't change the DNS settings of one of my domains, after starting a support ticket and waiting more then a week for a response I called them. There was no answer and NO sign of life at their company. It has now been over 4 weeks and I've gotten my 20 other domains out from under them except for that one troublesome domain.

Basically if you have a problem they will not help, and thats too bad because they could be making a fortune for years to come.

My experience with goDaddy was very pleasant, I have made a mistake deleting my own domain when I first started with them so I had to buy it again! I emailed them and they made a refund for me. I love goDaddy

wierd... just registered a domain with dotster for $30 and later found out that I cannot edit the DNS and it will cost me a further $10 to do so... cheeky.

Watch out:

» Whois Privacy - $2.99/yr.
» URL Forwarding - $5.00/yr.
» Email Forwarding - $10.00/yr.
» DNS Management - $10.00/yr.
» Transfer Lock - Free / $10.00/yr.

We all know Godaddy typically TENDS to do well, however, I have heard they have been known to "steal" domains?

I think what you are referring to a "stealing" is just very bad domain management from clients. Go Daddy will typically send 5 or 6 emails in the closing 90 days of a domains renewal period. People often put off renewing until it is too late, and Godaddy will then auction off the domain, not stealing in my opinion but practical business.

Godaddy is definitely not the best registrar. I have all my domains with Namecheap and Moniker.

Godaddy.com is definitely the way to go for domain hosting. They have amazing customor support reachable almost 24/7 for everything other then VPs and Dedicated servers.... For Vps and Dedicated hosting, They have no support, they may have advanced knowledge on those servers just refuse to give absolutely any support on them. Which is a huge problems for those looking for GD and other server programs and haven't spend the last year learning how to install it though ssh.

I've had over 200 domains registered And I feel safe and havent had any problems with that end of there service.

Honestly I've had one problem and kinda does bug me till today, I purchased a script off myspace for like 200$ and was using it on there server... They disbaled my access to my Dedicated server and shut down my site.. In the long run I losted 2 months of dedicated work! WHy? I guess the script I bought wasn't from the rightful owner and the real business who offered my script contacted them for me about this and options for me to purchase it. (which I did 475 USDs No Problem)..

the buttom line, Was they deleted my files for no reason.

I seen the copy of the email sent to them and there was 2 options.

Suspend me delete my files, Or advice me to purchase them immediately.

They choose to delete my files over respectfully passing on a simple warning advicing me the account holder of the situation that I had absolutely no clue of.

Because in the long run My domain name itself was fine I continue to use my services with them as my domain registrar but for hosting, I can't afford to lose months of day in day out hard work over them not having the respect to warn a client of a situation at hand that could been overcome in minutes.

For those who are wanting Managed Quality VPS and Dedicated servers at a reasonable price I suggest Hostforweb.com I started using them about 5 months ago and I've nothing but great things to say about there customer support and protential this company has if they keep up there great service.

Best regards

As for the worst I would definitely have to agree RegisterFly takes the cake. Although I have only used 1 registerer before and attempted to use Godaddy but didn't feel like paying 25 dollars for the extra options I needed. I decided to go with the 5.99 option and get even more.

I use 1and1. I have never had a problem with them, they have a flat fee of 5.99 and don't give me a bunch of crap like Godaddy tries to offering for a fee. Instead they just do it free. There is a free private or public registration option, you can unlike dotster do as many DNS changes that you want. They are the way to go especially if you have a hosting plan with them.

I guess few more registrar like registerfly may be active so it is most important that you register your domain with only reputed and reliable registrar.

I would think that one of the domain name register could be namescheap.com . But they are alright and decent...but they are not as reliable as GoDaddy.com
