If I were going to backorder a domain what service do you guys think I should use. I'm afriad of getting screwed by some company who drops the ball on getting the domain I want when it expires and keeps my $15 bucks. I don't want to contact the owner to purchase because I'm pretty certain that the domain will not be renewed and once someone knows you want something they want to empty your wallet.

I'll check it out. The only reason I want backorder is because it doesn't expire until september and I know I'll forget. The domain name is similar to one of my current sites so it is important for me to snatch it up asap. Thanks for the suggestion.

If the domain is currently registered at goddady then backorder with them if not then use snapnames.com or pool.com, the minimun backorder fee is $60.

Godaddy backorder is the biggest joke on the internet seriously. Unless its an obscure name like Bighairryfrenchnudemodelsfromthe1800s.com they will never get it. Best way is to get it at pool or snapnames as they get most of the good drops. Be prepared to pay a LOT if its a good name.
