Hi everybody:

I'm new here and I'm a rookie webmaster...I have one problem and i hope you can help me...(I hope that this is the area to post my question, if not sorry )...

On my work area we have a domain name |ex. www.blabla.com| and a subdomain locally |www.yes.blabla.com|...the problem is that the server where the subdomain's data live was damaged a now I need to recover the back up...but I dont know how to do it and the old webmaster did not left any documentation...

Where do I put the entire project (ASP.Net)?

My big question is, the hosting gives me the subdomain or it is on my server...(I searched on both and didn't find anything)...

I have to work with the IIS? (if you know how to tutorial of IIS give me the link please)

Hope you can help me and sorry for my english that is very baaaad!!!!

Thanks for your help

As far as a guide for IIS, i think this will do well: http://www.microsoft.com/WindowsServ...s/default.mspx

Be sure to read the whole page and know your options. Lots of good links to answers for your questions.

Typically, if you were using cPanel i would go into your control panel, perform a full tar.gz backup and bring to your new host to upload. But you can always FTP to your old website, if your account is still active and under public_html you will see a folder called: Yes

In that folder are the files for your subdomain: yes.blabla.com

Hope this helps,

Thanx for your answer...

I'm not using a hosting's cPanel because we've it running locally...

I think that those subdomains were running the projects by reference on others servers, because we found the projects there...

I think I have to work with the DNS to set up the subdomains...that make sense?...If you know how or where to read about it, please redirect me...

I'm learnin about IIS...
