You couldn't be more wrong. In general, .com IS the American ending. It wasn't supposed to be when TLDs started being used but the majority of sites in the USA are .com and business-wise, it is considered simply the best domain to have. .us is used, but very little compared to .com.
Your ranking is correct though I would say
