I looked up a domain to see if it was registered and noted that it sort of was.
the listed registrar is Tucows aka domaindirect.com. It is registered to a single person but...
It seems that earlier this month it expired but is not able to registered again.
Do they make a habit of holding domains that have expired? Do I even have a chance? Should I fund my secured credit card in preparation should it suddenly be available?
I check once or twice a day to see if it is still registered on a secure channel so that those sneaky domain stealers don't get hold of it.
I don't think its a Tucows thing. I think is something in the Verisign registry that keeps them and then suddenly releases. Theres been a lot of talk recently about this sort of situation and how people can actually buy it at the end.
I read about it in 'State Of The Domain', but can't remember it all now
