how much are they worth?
I just tbought the domain mz6.com for $30 is that a good deal?

mz6 means absolutly nothing to me, I wouldn't pay $1 for it. But it may be worth $500 to somebody else. It depends on if you have a need for it or not. A three letter domain with seemingly random characters is not worth much unless you add value to it.

ok, but I have seen 3 letter domains selling elsewhere for alot of money. You see a 3 LETTER domain is alot easier to remeber than a 3 WORD domain.

That does not mean that it has true worth. This is a ploy that most self proclaimed domain guru's want people to believe. That a three letter domain is so rare and so valuable that you have to pay thousands for it. This way when you buy it for thirty bucks they still make a nice profit and you are the one who now has to try and find someone to pawn it off to for more than that.

You could easily add value to that domain though by coming up with phrases that mz6 could mean and then even building just a tiny site with some content. Developed domains sell for much more no matter how many letters are in it.

Don't jump the gun there... Sound had a point. A three letter domain is often an acronym, and companies will pay big bucks for three-letter .com acronyms. However, it'll be much harder to find a company that would look for a domain such as MZ6.com.

In general, three letter domains sell for much more than three character letter/number domains (and hyphens would bring that down even more).

$30 isn't bad at all, though--so I don't think you got ripped off.

just do a quick google for MZ6 and see what kind of site you could build up. looks as though there is a stereomicroscope called the mz6 :P

With all due respect, he was NOT nitpicking. There is a HUGE difference between a 3 letter and a 3 characted domain, especially when it comes to .com's - we're talking atleast a $1,000 AVERAGE difference.

I doubt many people would consider 1000$ to be nitpicking.
