I just bought one for one of our clients and it was very fast to get setup but may lack some of the features of other domain name providers.

(not that i care as long as i can change the name servers

)

you can always transfer it to another domain registrar later..

Yea, that's an awesome deal and by far the cheapest price around and the cheapest that you will likely ever find!

They should design a new site just for the domains. The current page could use some design improvement. Another simple improvement would be to allow you to be able to search more than one TLD at a time.

When you check up the whois it says this:

Registrar: TUCOWS, INC.

they must be reselling through tucows and they charge $10.00 so rackshack must be losing money in the hope to make it back on servers...

that is correct, they lose money for selling them this cheap.

As you have pointed out the price is not sustainable as RackShack is losing money on each domain sold.

Usually compainies have cheap promos until they have enough customers and free advertising on boards like this and then raise the price.

You can use these promos if you are prepared to shift your domains around every year. Can be worth the hassle so long as you do not have many domains!

Good point grahamc.

The $5 price is worth it to me and then I can transfer them later when they raise the price.

But I wish they allowed you to register multiple domains at once. It's a pain having to order them one by one if you plan on getting several.
