Domain Names for Sale

Someone I know recently started registering the urls of common spelling errors of big sites
eg. 'gecoities.com' instead of 'geocities.com'....he doesn't have that one, that's just an example

But my main question is is it worth it. He just ordered a bunch of them today, so I don't know what the hits are like...
Does anyone else do this?

Many people bought spelling errors domains and forward them to Pay per click search engines.

The cost of the domain is under $10 and the chance that people click thru should be more than 10 bucks.

Just another way to make money!

I feel most of the people today reach websites using seach engines that lowers the CTR on misspells !!
