It seems like entire sites, along with .com names, can be copied and used in non-U.S. countries without worrying about infringing upon copyright or trademark violations.

You think this is another example of that?

Well I guess the lesson here is register your domain and make sure they are renewed!

Although if I were PWC id just pay ultimate search and buy the darn thing!
