I am looking to purchase domain names with good PR.

I have read some post in here, nothing seems to exactly work. (maybe it's me)

Will someone please explain how I can certainly verify that the PR is correct.

All advise is much appreciated.

Sincerely,
Chris

Let me guess...you want to buy domain names with good PageRank because you want to rank a site highly and an established domain with a good PR is better than a new domain with no PR, right? Is that the theory?

If it is, let me tell you what you don't want to hear: it's flawed. Very badly flawed. And here's why it's flawed:

Consider your theory from the standpoint of a search engine. A PR6 domain that hasn't been used for 6 months (or more) suddenly reappears with new ownership and new content.

Is this site:

a) A new site, subject to the same rules as all new sites?
b) An established site, subject to the same rules as all established sites?

The answer is far more likely to be a) than it is b). And SEs will reflect this: domains won't be promoted, will go idle, people won't visit them, maybe they expire, etc.

In other words, all you're doing is looking to game the search engines and they aren't that stupid.

Let's assume, just for argument's sake, that they WERE that stupid. And let's say there is a domain available that has a high PR. Would you be able to buy it? Not bloody likely. Too many people are trying to do the same thing you are.

Besides, PageRank is just 1 of over 100 factors, and it's not that big of a factor at that. It's just something that was blown WAY out of proportion by SEO-types looking to game it (and to be totally fair, there was some successful gaming of it for a while.)

Buy a domain that reflects the content of your site (new preferably, so that you're not subject to any past penalties that may have been imposed on it at some point) and build a site for your users. Stop worrying about stupid SEO pet tricks. They just don't work anymore for the most part.

I would have to agree with the gentleman.
I get asked all the time , why my site site is only a PR 2, if I am a Marketer/SEO, and I always respond,
Them:. "If you guys do marketing, why is your site only a PR 2-3
ME.. "How did you find me?"
Them. "Your Website"
ME"Seems to me if my phone is ringing, then my website is working fine".

Them: "But doesn't a higher PR mean more visitors?"
ME: "What do you want visitors, or clients?"
Them: "Clients."
Me: "How did you find me again?"
Them "Your Website."
ME: " Have you ever heard of us before hand?"
Them: "I Dont think so."
Me: "Shall we continue?"
Them: "OK, I see your point"

My point is, I really dont care what MY PR is as long as the phone rings. I just put this site together last month, (of course I used an aged domain from my portfolio) 10 new clients because of it. Traffic is up from averaging 4 uniques a day for the last 2 years, to averaging 100 uniques a day in less that 30 days.

I don't care if it is a PR 0, the if phone is ringing.

Dont put the cart before the horse.
Information and content is the king, not abstract numbers.
