So I was wondering...do you think it is unethical if you start up a website/blog, and embed other people's YouTube videos into your site, then putting advertisments around it.

No I don't. YouTube is free and people know that when they upload videos, people anywhere in the world can watch them, and if they don't want people using them on other web sites, then can disable embedding.

If you are using a few YouTube videos just in a blog or something, that's fine. I do however think that it is pointless to make a video site that is an exact clone of YouTube and of which all of the videos are actually YouTube ones.

If you think you can turn it into something useful, go for it. I don't think its as unethical as what some of these people do with their networks of made for adsense sites.

I personally wouldn't bother spending time on it unless I knew I could make something that people are going to use.

I look at it this way: the poster has the ability to not allow embedding of a Youtube video of he/she wishes. If the poster allows for it, that poster effectively puts that video into the public domain.

I don't really have a problem with it as long as it's not one of those all-video blog deals.

YouTube doesn't just give you permission to do what you're talking about - they give you the actual code to embed their videos in your site.

Well I think what he's asking is for embedding, and you've just said YouTube gives you the ability to EMBED videos so what's the problem? If this is small scale, such as on a blog, plenty of people have blogs with embedded YouTube videos and Adsense around these

If you try to pass off the video as one you created then it's unethical, but if all you're doing is embedding the videos it's fine.

A big part of what makes YouTube and other video sharing sites so popular is the ability to share the videos.
