I want to create a site like http://www.imeem.com/ which is a music hosting site, that hosts all types of music and videos.

Imeem has a content filitering system that detects copyrighted music and will then only give you a 30 secong preview of the music.

I want to create this site, but i do not want to get screwed over by the FBI or police or anything, so how would i prevent something like that in the case it does happen??????

There's an obscure provision of the dmca that lets you pay $100 to establish a copyright officer. If that person takes something down when they get a complaint you have some legal protection. You're a lot better off not letting it happen, though. I wouldn't worry about the fbi or police, but the riaa are another story.

Not really ... you can make a database of hash values for a bunch of copyrighted mp3 files, but a person can change the file slightly, in many different ways, too many to get around.

Well, have you gone to imeem.com and uploaded a song? It detects the name if the file and tells you wether it is copyright or not.

Also where would i get a database or list of copyright mp3's that i can use?
