I believe it's a bit of a gray area.
Usually, company don't care about it, but some may take cheating seriously.
I've heard that Blizzard is very aggressive about that, and that they may even cancel peoples subscription (with no refund) if they are detected as cheating or running a trainer.
As we see those days that DMCA is called for almost any frivolous reason, I think that it's just possible that one day a company use it against trainer.
