I'm thinking of creating and selling website templates to get some extra money. I've heard that they can be quite popular with people who dont want to have to pay for a full site.
Does anyone know how true this is? Also, is it simply a case of creating a html page? Or is it best to create a Dreamweaver template for example?
I think it's a good idea. I'd recommend you look into the Joomla CMS market. Joomla is huge. Almost all of the Linux hosting providers also offer free Joomla as an add-on application.
I also think this is something you can get into for very little cost - good luck!
It's a good solution but should only be temporary and not made into a lifestyle. You have to be good enough to create a steady income and receive a decent amount for each template you pump out as well.
I'd suggest just doing it as a side-kick, like freelancing or something. Some people just never know when to quit with the changes and you wind up doing more than you bargained for.
There are so many sites out there to providing free sites. I think you should focus on the web design. To sell templates they have to be of a high quality and error free.
