What type of graphic's for a web design business site? I have recently started www.dragonstardesign.com and I have no idea on what type's of graphic's to use I only have fireworks 8 to use should I use stock photo's or something else?

Forgive the lack of content and design its still in the early testing stage.

Why do you need extra graphics? The only graphics you really need on a design/portfolio site are a logo and images of your work in your portfolio - unless any additional images add real value the they are pointless IMHO.

There are a couple of golden rules in web design...

"Less is more"

The first thing I look at a web design site is their design and I think you should work a bit more on that . Usually for web applications I dont approve to use flash but in that kind of sites I think you should use flash and pleae do not use a ready made template because nowadays almost all f the clients know the ready made templates with classical server photos in them ... I think you can make a small research in the create your own template styled sites . I saw some of them have a grat design

The stock photo thing is becoming more and more ridiculous, since the meaningless images of some lady looking up at a camera 6 feet directly over her head are getting used more and more (where the hell does that occur in the business world outside of on surveillance tapes, anyway?)

Portfolio images and a logo should be enough. It's really the content that matters, and whether or not it attracts your target market (the part that really, REALLY matters.)

I think gos1 has a bit of a point in that your layout could stand to be improved, but you don't necessarily need many (if any) graphics to do so. Use CSS, create a default font, pick some subtle colors out, and you'll be all set.

Thanks for the help I was'nt completly happy with the design my self people where suggestion to use white for a business site I like to use dark colours and white has been a nightmare to work with aspecialy trying to keep it simple and not look to plain.

You need to work on your portfolio and use images from the sites you have created. You need to focus more on your design and get your site compliant with the latest standards.
