Can i do the following using paypal?
  • Credit card authenticating ( rentacoder and elance do a thing where they have it so they charge 2 amounts to the credit card usually that make up $10 but it could be less and then the person has to check with their credit card company what those 2 exact amounts are then they have to put them in inside their account to verify they are the card owner from then their credit card is authenticated

I don't think so... But, me thinks, if the credit card transaction clears Paypal that probably means it's valid.

you will need a properly secured server and a secure site (https) and a merchant account before you can even think about handling CC accounts directly

Not only that, this isn't just a script that you pop on somewhere and magically e-commerce appears on your site. You usually need to do one of two things:

1) Have your payment processor (another thing you need...Hirst forgot this part, so he's used up his one error for the year ) supply you with the ability to use their payment pages (e.g. PrayPal.)

2) Have your payment processor supply you with an API that will connect to their server, securely as Hirst pointed out, send the data off, get a response back and process from there.

If you're looking for quick, neat and easy, the only way you're going to find that is with option 1...and it usually doesn't work anywhere near as well as option 2 does.
