Your biggest completion is going to be from other companies that offer eBay sniping services and products. To best compete with these companies, you need to differentiate your business from these competitor companies and market your site based on this differentiation.
You have already positioned yourself in a niche market (ipod sniping) that may not already have as much completion as companies that offer general ebay sniping products and services. Your general competitors will advertise to the general ebay market on a message that their products and services snipe at a much larger variety of ebay products that you do. In turn, you should market to ipod users that are only interest in obtaining ipods on a message that your site will help them find the best deal on this targeted item without them having to waste time and energy searching through other unwanted items
Another way of differentiation is to offer services unique to your site. For example, perhaps your customers would appreciate a ticker that provides them with a real time list of current ipod bid prices. You could buddle such a service with a membership plan (see problem mentioned below) or offer it for anyone to view.
Keep in mind, that one hurdle you face is that you will have much less repeat business than your competition. Once someone gets an ipod, they may feel there is nothing left that they want to buy. Do to an inevitable high customer turnover rate, your business will be very marketing intensive. You might want to look for complimentary businesses to work with. For example, maybe a site that only sells iphones and/or Macs could direct ipod business to you, if you direct business at them as well.
Perhaps you can also offer a referrals service where people get a small kickback from future sales that they help you broker. This takes many one time customers and turns them into a valuable marketing resource.
