I used to use just paypal but as my customers became more familiar with online shopping I added my own credit card solutions.

I use authorizenet because they manage the gateway as it integrates with my store. Drop deposits are within 24 hours for MC/Visa and Discover and American Express take a few added days.

I went to my local bank for my authorizenet account so that it would integrate with my bank account but I know there are accounts you can apply for online. Even better fees than the ones I pay although I have a great rate.

Do you take payments for merchandise or services? What payment gateway do you use?

We use Authorize.net and one of my old business partners is now a reseller for a very large payment processor so I get a really kick-butt rate. He specializes in e-commerce too, so he knows how I need it setup, and he handles my chargebacks so I don't have to worry about them. Really a sweet deal.

It just deposits in our bank account on the close of business the 2nd day after the settlement.

THe thing I really like about authorizenet is the fast deposit. Batch at midnight. Deposited the next day (24 hours). Its much better than any other gateway I've found.

I paid for an authorize.net account back when I really didn't have the need to. I closed it after I figured out I was loosing money.

Recently, I added Google Checkout to my PayPal options and I have been pleasantly surprised at the amount of people who use it.

I work professionally in the e-commerce field, and a lot of our clients use Chase's PaymenTech solution.

What does authorize.net take on their transaction percentage? any other fees?

I use yourpay, and I only accept Visa/MC because Disc and Amex take a higher transaction percentage and chargebacks on Amex are full of drama.

Google Checkout looks like a sweet deal. I hope to integrate it into my site soon.

Old 10-29-2007, 11:26 PM Merchant Account vs 3rd Party Processor

Our company used 3rd party processor before like paypal and authorize.net. It is easy to start up with but as your volume goes up there will be less flexibility and also the transactions process are being blackbox.

We found a few banks that can provide a Visa/ MasterCard Merchant account so we sign-up directly with them and get a payment gateway provider to help us hook it up. You feel more secure in this way since the banks keep everything transparent. Also the deal are much more attractive. So try to talk to your local banks as well while you are seeking for a processor. See which one suits you the most.

We currently working with HSBC, Bank of China and the gateway provider we are working with is called PaymentAsia.
