Would it be a bad thing to have our domain name different than the company name on the front page? I have an opportunity to get a domain name that is exactly the keyword phrase I'm optimizing my site for.

It certainly does for branding.

Would your company prefer to be known by it's REAL name? or wesellorangewidgets?

The myth of having your keyword in the domain helping is not true at all. It will not help you rank higher. The main thing in having high search engine rankings is having relevant sites linking to you and good site optimization.

For example if your business is called. Sallys Exotic Pets.

It is better to have SallysExoticPets.com then BuyExoticPetsToday.com.

If your website name does not have your business name it will also make customers not trust you or think you are just an affiliate.
