Another one of my ingenious ideas. I have plenty of experience starting, building, growing websites - but I never was planning to open an online business. Quick and dirty plan:

I found a product, not alot of online stores, easily bought wholesale, big market for it, cheap, etc. I`ve begun making my general plan; use CubeCart, Paypal Express Checkout, marketing, etc.

I guess I have a few legal questions.

"An online business is a business", no? Do I need to register a business in my province, and therefore would I need to collect taxes on sales (13% in my province)?

Read the stickies, and sifted through the legal forum.

And the accountant thing is a good idea, at least if I'm being serious about it (which I am).

Thanks Chris!

Yes it is a business. And yes you are more than likely have to pay tax.

Best thing is to talk to a counselor. Search for SBA local office near you, you can join as a member for a very small fee and have access to seminars, free advices and such.

You don't have to register a business if you don't want. But there are pros and cons. If there is any chance you might get sued, better do it as a company.

You should pay taxes. You don't want the irs after you. Even selling on eBay is a "business" if you start relying on the money you make from it.
