I never have again found the article I once read long ago in which some sensible person said something like
"on the internet, first you prove to yourself you can make a quid, then you replicate/clone that quid as many times as you like"
and therefore
"it's all about just making a quid"
So therefore I've written this post to fill that gap (and also because I forgot I was trying to put as many posts as possible between me and my political comments! Then I had to come and quote more **** bbc articles. still, gotta be there for the children and all).
This is worth remembering. Particularly by that guy/lass on the other thread who had their free traffic flow halted by circumstances beyond their capacity to observe. You must keep on going, and the thing to remember is that your success can continue as long as you can make your money-counter go up even by a single quid.
In fact in July of 2008 I had two ways of making money, one of them grossed 10s of 1000s of dollars a year without any work other than setup (that was google adsense arbitrage, in fact) one of them was a labour-intensive idea which without any sustained effort couldn't raise more than 100 dollars a year or so with no work but setup (lasting a few days).
For reasons which are obvious to anyone who knows how well google protect their money from other people who want to (legitimately) take it from them (like me) I ended up having to go for the labour intensive method (which also, interestingly, involved returning to a much better and more intelligent form of web development than the high-paying low-work project was leading me to do).
If you are an enterpeneur there IS one question you have to ask yourself: what is the reason I'm "worth" the money I earn/want-to-earn.
I know mine - I'm a versatile multi-talented programmer and that's what I keep at the core of my business - my programming. But your talent can be anything - being an expert gamer, cooking good food... anything. Whatever it is, you can usually turn it into profit out here. Of course programming kind of kicks posterior (google's bosses can say pretty much the same thing as me about why they're worth what they're worth - of course if they're being honest they'll just punch themselves in the face for being soulless sellouts who advertise stuff like "married dating" - something I'd never do, due to the karmic implications).
