Dear All - Nice to meet you new to the forum,

I am setting up a new website and am planning to have the website show different new products on the market. However, when I approached the manufacturers/brands asking them whether they would allow the use of their photos, they either don't respond or say no. Is there a way to get a picture of their products (aside from going to the local store and snapping the shot)? I couldn't imagine why they would not allow me to show their photos as I am not even giving a grading on their product, just an introduction.

On another note, I have compiled a local list of phone numbers and addresses of business that is in relation to the website I am doing. The compilation came from yellow pages. How could I use this list (which is not yet on my website) without infringing copyright laws? Would I have to call every company up (only 100 of them or so).

Thanks,
Seejigong

People will let you put photos of their products if you are being paid to sell them. For example if you join the American network "Commission Junction" and sign up to say 500 or so companies on it, you will then have access to 100s of millions of product listings from their product feeds - you will be provided with photos of products and descriptions and links for where people can buy them. You will get paid usually between 2% and 12% commission on all sales you make.

I hope this guides your project in the right direction. If you are a UK trader, commission junction still has a lot of products but affiliate window and tradedoubler are nonetheless more exhaustive of the UK high street's products, CJ is more for Americans or "globalists" (scattered markets).

Why give people phone numbers? You'll never get any credit for the customers you create for these businesses who are too stuck up to apparently let you give them free advertising.
