I'm looking to build a website to use for user reviews of products. After much research I'm leaning toward using a forum where I have products groups as forum categories, with subcategories underneath.
Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with building a user-review website? I'm not looking to code from scratch -- I'm trying to see if anyone has adapted any 3rd party solution (e.g. forum, blog) to achieve this purpose.
My big debate is this. For example, if someone wants to write a review about monitors from ABC company, they can go to the Peripherals->Monitors subcategory and post a listing about ABC company monitors and their experience.
But...the limitations I see here are that:
1) the only way to see all the posts about ABC company would be to do a forum search for the name "ABC Company"
and
2) I haven't yet figured out a way for the users to rank ABC Company itself. Someone can rate the post or the creator of the post, but there would be no way to basically see a list of monitor companies (e.g the fictional ABC and XZY corps).
Any suggestions are much appreciated!
