First of all, this is only my second post. I looked over the forum list, so I hope I am putting this in the right place!

My question is: I currently own several sites and have recently become interested in investing in some "turnkey" sites. Pretty much pre-made websites, change the logo, add some ads and get it online. Has anyone had any success with such ventures? If so, do you have any recommendations on where to purchase the softwares? I've been looking around and there are so many options, it's hard to know who you can trust to give you a quality product.

Specifically I have been looking at baby name, recipe, link exchange, etc. database and content rich type turn-keys.

Also, I've heard that a lot of people view turn-keys as scams and a waste of time. What are your thoughts on that?

Thanks!!

Exactly that.

The only people making any money from turn-key sites are the ones you buy it from.

Thanks! I appreciate both of your input. I'll be sure to steer clear, or at least be more careful!

Thanks again!

Turnkrys sites can work for you too as longas you change a few things on them. If you change the graphics and a bit of the content it will make it unique. Also you need to promote then effectively to get traffic to them. There are people actually selling these site the buy fora few dollars for hundreds or even a $1000 or more

Its not imposible

This is true. However with the majority of "turnkey" all the "owner" can edit is their contact details and maybe one or two pages. The rest is "boiler plate" text from the parent site.

IMO - Turnkey sites are obvious to your visitors. The only way to create lasting success in any venture is by providing value to the people you are serving...and turn-key sites don't do this.

Look at it from your point of view - when you are looking for information and you land on a site that is obviously a template site with no unique info, do you click on any of their ads? do you ever go back to that site? Or do you press the back button, never to return?

Think about it.
