I've seen a few websites that let you send big sized files across the net to partners, colleagues, clients etc without the need for understanding FTP.

Some of them place a limit on the allowable file size.

Some of the require you to register first.


I wonder if anybody can recommend a good site that doesnt have either of the above hassles?

If they didn't have the above 'hassles' then there would be no bandwidth limits whatsoever...Think of it like this...What if all the roads in the World did not have traffic lights?...Doesn't sound sensible does it?

With that said, there are numerous sites that will allow you to do what you want, but keep in mind there are laws regarding bandwidth, so if you decide to setup you own server to allow any file sizes to be transferred across the net, then be warned that your isp will monitor such activity.

Rapidshare, Megaupload, etc..etc.. Those are only 2 example sites of what is available for such activity

I think you misinterpreted my question.

I'm not interested in p2p sharing.

I was actually talking about something more like this:

YouSendIt.com

or

SendThisFile.com

but the first one has a 100MB file restriction, the second one needs you
to register first.

I'm just looking for something similar, but better.

I use http://www.transferbigfiles.com/ there is a 1 GB limit but no registration is necessary and it uploads pretty fast. I have sent many files without any issues.

Yeah I've looked at them too.
I like the 1GB limit.

But I think they need to spend a bit of time working on the design.
It looks a bit "amateur hour" so I don't really feel comfortable recommending it to clients. Its also listed as a Beta product. Will be good if the put a bit more TLC into it.

4shared.com requires you to register though you get 5GB of space and the links never die providing you login to your account once every (i think) 90 days.

The only others I've used are megaupload and yousendit, both of which are reliable, but also have restrictions like needing to register, limited downloads etc. Theres always going to be a catch if you want free webspace and bandwidth, otherwise why would they offer the service?

It's the best and cheapest way to send large files fast. They offer a no membership based service. basically you pay for the file size you need to send and nothing more. You can use Swap it! Encrypt it! to send files fast between computers or mobile devices (you can even send files directly from your mobile device). They have a free service too called Swap it! Encrypt it! Lite.

The "free" service has a limit of twelve 25MB files a month.
They only keep files on the server for 72 hours.

The site looks a bit rough. "Overview" is one word, not two.

I think there are better options.

Hey man I was just telling you about the site, I could careless if you use it.
I will say one thing, I use the site a lot and it works great! It's faster than every other site I've tried and in fact it works quite well. A lot of these sites that offer free services don't even work and the ones with free services that do work (like yousendit) takes for ever to sign up and use.

Well anyway good luck with everything and enjoy wasting money!
