I have been researching new eCommerce options (no osCommerce or ZenCart) and came across Magento. Looks like a clean, modern back end and relatively easy to integrate into an existing design. I tried to install the script onto one of my domains and came up with a PHP problem where it requires MySQL Version 4.1.2 and my host only offers 4.1.1.
What really got me confused is they are telling me:

Does that sound right or are they blowing smoke up my behind?
If it is not possible to use this cart, does anyone have a suggestion for one that is comparable?
