Hey all,

I am looking to sell event tickets from my website. I have looked a few pre-made tools but the powers that be have told me that they want the process to take place on our website rather than go to a third party. Clearly I don't want to make a script to accept creditcards myself. First I wouldnt know how, and second dealing with that level of security is a horrible idea.

So my two obvious choices were Google Check and Paypal. I have a couple problems with these. From what I see it doesnt look like you are able to add a good deal of fields. I want to be able to record information about the buyer such as the company they are with, their position, their name, if this is the first event by our organization they have attended, etc.

What would you guys suggest that satifies these requirements:
  • Maintains the look and feel of our website
  • Allows me to collect some information on the user
  • Is simple and secure
  • Accepts major credit cards
  • Doesnt make the user jump through too many hoops
  • Has been around for a bit so it has a reliable track record.

If its Google or Paypal, what am I missing and which one between the two do you prefer?

You could check with your local bank or third party payment processor for merchant account as an alternative to process payments for your event company. Your funds could be frozen or missing for some obvious reason(s) if you use google checkout or paypal. Check postings at forums on this topic. It could lead to loss of revenue or business failure for your company.
