The title pretty much says it all, does anyone have advice for a start up web company that is trying to gain clients? We are based in a small city and would like to conquer and claim it.

Is there some place potential clients like to hang out? (joke...

)

Anyways, any input would be much appreciated, sorry I did not elaborate much - I figured the question is pretty straight forward.

You could try joining your local Chamber of Commerce and attend the meetings You could also join any local small business groups. The key is NETWORKING.

There are always small business's that need a website but don't know any one to do it.

I know the sales rep has talked with the COC, along with the owner. I am not sure where to even begin as far as finding a place to network along with other small business. Austin is not a big city at all, but there are many mom and pop business' here...but unfortunately Austin can be very 'old school'

Your marketing strategy to follow 2 paths:

Web based - Posting and advertising on forums and other related sites, plus using Google Adwords
Local - Business starts at home. Place Ads in your local papers, business directory and go around your local town and personally mailshot the local businesses.
