If I am selling my first product online, what would you suggest?

Also, do you guys like clickbank? paypal?

Its depend on 2 things , what types of products do you want sell , digital or non-digital products.

For digital products you can use

ejunkie
payloadz
1shopping cart

Fo non digital files you can use

1shopping cart
Interspire Shopping Cart
Cs Cart
SunShop Shopping Cart

These are the best.

My product is a sports training DVD and I am not offering digital download for the videos themselves but they will be downloading some documents to help them through their training.

It really depends on what products you intend to sell because there are shopping cart system that will work on certain products but will not work on other products.

With sites like SunShop, what about the actual credit card processing? It looks like this is just a CART, but then you have to pay someone separately for the credit card processing? Sorry, I'm new to the game here and will be looking to get a cart up and running on my site in about 3 months, just trying to be proactive!

CubeCart is free, as is OSCommerce and ZenCart. Just pay for the hosting.

CubeCart is by far the easiest to get strarted with, I have a number of clients who are up and selling within a day or so of signing up.

If you want to use PayPal Standard, Authorize.net, Checkout.com etc - Try Magento.

(but you need the right hosting set up. It is a bit of a resource hot).

If you want to take credit card payments directly on your site - Pinnacle.
(and pay for dedicated hosting)

I recommend Zen cart and Magento. This cart contains all the features related to the delivery and payment of the product.

I think personaly presta is the best and its free every one uses zen cart though iv seen how it works and it looks sloppy there is also ocommerce i think its pritty good to

If you really fancy a challenge, Use paypal and their IPN service ( so it talks to your own PHP scripts )

You can then ( once the user has paid ) update your own databases, print labels, etc etc.
