We are looking for an on-line store-or-whatever where we can send some of our traffic.

My own situation is that I threw up a niche website last century. It was just done in HTML and no SEO at all because I knew nothing of such mysteries. It was then ignored by myself. In the meantime it has attained Google Page Rank 3 and 210k+ visitors p.a. (OK, sneer if you must, if I sound a little pleased! I'm only a n00b.)

These are well-disposed visitors, and many would do a favour back by at least looking at an associated e-store.

I did see a nice store some months back, and looked at the affiliate link at http://www.affilistore.com/. I have just gone back for a second look to find... a site for sale.

I have also looked at the http://www.SeeWhoSells.com site, but the affiliate link does not inspire much confidence. N00b affiliates need hand-holding, idiot-proof instructions, and a lot of reassurance that they are joining a tried-and-tested program.

I have also looked at http://www.popshops.com but they aren't claiming to provide "everything ready to run", and they say "free" on the main page but are not very clear what is free as opposed to the paid-for that they then concentrate on.

Can anybody recommend a good e-store-sort-of-thing, with affiliate opportunities suitable for a n00b?

Could you please shed some light on the niche of your website? The main thing in your case is to find a vendor who will provide suitable programs for your niche. For a general one, I'd recommend starting with affiliate networks like CJ, LinkShare and ShareASale.

Many thanks for answering.

It's a family website; origins of the name, and how the family has spread world-wide. It has been unexpectedly popular, so we are adding a forum where people can express themselves. The keenest people seem to be from North America, seeking their roots in Europe.

The next step will be to try to make use of the family traffic to help my cousin's children. Their father's illness is likely to result in awful damage to their education, unless we can raise some money. We have already laid the legal groundwork to establish a registered charity, if we can manage to coax some money from the world-wide family.

The simplest way to do this appears to be to suggest to people that, if they are likely to buy consumer goods by mail-order anyway, the profits might as well go to needy children from their family. So we would like a simple-to-make and simple-to-use webstore for general consumer mail-order goods. (Unless anybody can make better suggestions!)

Any advice as to how we put this into practice will be welcome!

Thanks, but we are looking more for consumer sales by mail-order in North America. B2B with an emphasis on China would be rather out of place.

I have an ecommerce store that I need to drive traffic to.
I do not really understand how affiliates work.
But you may wish to have a look at our website and make me a suggestion !
