Hi,

Our ecom model works on a % of increased sales basis. The more sales we generate the more money we make.

When people visit the site, pick up the phone and place the order we miss out on our cut. Im willing to bet a large amount of people prefer to discuss the products or get advice before committing.

My question is how to monitor phone sales without relying 100% on trust?

My thinking is to get our own number for the site and forward it to theirs, then we can see exactly how much we make their phone ring. If its non stop we know where the phone traffic is coming from.

Any suggestions?

but you only how many calls came in on that number, you do not know how many resulted in sales.

For that you would have to handle the sales desk as well.

Being on such terms has to be always based on trust. How many time do you see;
"I can't pay you know, but when it takes off ......"

"Yeah thanks but no thanks: Now hop off and come back when you are serious."

Work now pay later schemes are always bad news. 'cos later never arrives.

handling the sales isnt really an option as we are web people, not the niche experts and dont have the knowledge of the products our clients do. I mean we know the products, just not the in depth details that they do.

I think its a lot to do with people wanting the advice on the phone then they make the sale there.

We currently have 2 ecoms, one puts web sales through the site, the other we feel isnt. We have another 2 lined up this month and i dont want this to be an ongoing issue.

Better start trusting the clients than, or work on a fixed cost basis.

Maybe you can have a system that records all calls? And then have a random check?
