I'm just wondering how I pass on the data that PayPal needs to know what a customer has just ordered from a website?

I'm using a CMS which will loop through multiple events for a theatre (together with a 'buy tickets' button for each event) and output the results in HTML.

Do I simply need to set the 'buy tickets' button to exist inside a form and maybe include a hidden field which contains the name or ID of the event?

Read the Integration Guide.

It explains the names of the hidden form field to be used and exactly what they are used for.

There are several optional parameters/fields that exist as well.

I've just thought actually. Would it be possible to customise the PayPal receipt that is emailed to the buyer?

Also, if an item becomes out of stock, I imagine that I would have to manually remove the buy button from my website? There's no way of making it conditional?

Does each email have a Transaction ID at the top of it as well?

It certainly is. You can put your own logo and heading on the invoices

Yep, if you do a bit of programming to handle the stock control
