If you're a not a developer like me, yet you have a great idea for a web app (backed by market research to verify its commercial viability), what are the possible avenues for bringing the project to life?

I know, initially at least, the venture capital option is not a realistic one because I will be written off since I will be outsourcing the development of the site to someone else. Because I won't be a person with tech experience or business experience in starting a tech startup I will not be taken seriously.

So what can someone in my shoes do to bring his idea to life? Could I go to a web development company and license my idea to them like one would license an invention of a physical product? Could I find some other kind of investor and offer equity in the company if they fund the development of the site?

One easier path is to source some funds and and get a working model created. Since its going to be outsourced the costs are always going to be there initially.

Also it will be much easier to convince yourself and those close to you to chip in some funds in order to get the idea off the ground.

You could always try reading your own thread on the same subject
