Look what people say about Sun Shop & Oscommerce

In my opinion x-cart is better, but it costs some $.

I've never used SunShop, but I can say from my experience with osCommerce that it does leave a bit to be desired. Don't get me wrong--it's a very nice system, and they make the entire online purchasing and payment processes much easier.

There are, however, constantly those moments when I just say to myself "something could make this better" whenever I'm using osCommerce. Sometimes it's how they automatically resize images, sometimes it's how certain aspects of the system that should be controllable through the control panel are not. I also really don't like how osCommerce handles thumbnails. Given PHP's image manipulation abilities, there are much more efficient ways of generating thumbnails than just manually resizing huge pictures down in the HTML code.

Never used Sunshop. Oscommerce is old and not a very good processor, if you have a good stable business it`ll be of no use for you.

Many of my clients have old and stable businesses and are running osCommerce-- I would advise just not to expect to get all you want out of the box. Best to hire a developer to layout and configure it.

Their system is very old, and the main reason why people use it is because it`s free. And when a newbies starts business he starts with e-commerce, but clever pro would never sign up to them...

I like how osCommerce works and how flexible it is. As I have not seen/worked-with the other… I can’t comment on it.

We have used osCommerce on a number of our new clients. Our most recent is a great soccer site www.codefourathletics.com. We aslo see a growing number of them join as shop members in our Online Shopping Mall website. So, I would have to recommend osCommerce but a skilled developer is usefull in fully customizing the cart system. Hope this helps.
