does anyone have a rough estimate on what the design of a e-commerce site woulod cost. this site would have probably 10-20 pages with a database for order forms. a weekly/monthly newsletter, and monthly/weekly maintainance.

this is for a school project so the estimate doesnt have to exact. thx

What is your time worth?

Thats an impossible question otherwise.

Some developers will bill at $10/hr work twice the number of hours they bill for

While others bill at $80 - $100+/hr and include the time it takes them to sharpen a their pencils.

I don't think anyone knows. Just make up a number and ask yourself if it would be worth your time to do it for this ammount. If the answer if you then you know if nothing else you'll be happy with what you got paid.

Jakob Nielson and his company charge bout $10,000 just to review the usability issues of a site. One look at Elance will show you that some developers "Will code for Food."

You just gotta find what will make you happy.

hi there,
creating a site depends on the time frame you scheduled the designer to do that project
$7 per hour
$1,295 per month

cheers

$7 per hour would be someone overseas, if you want someone in North America to do it you would be looking at a heck of a lot more than that.

From what I've seen, anything from $20 to $50/hour is pretty typical, but it really depends on the designer and the work being done. Some jobs would fall outside this range entirely.

In our web design company we dropped a 'per page' or 'per item' charge plan for small- medium buisnesses a long time ago and went with a 'per hour' basis. The only way to really judge our cost was to do it that way. If you have a guy working at $4 / hour, then you add that plus whatever payroll taxes and so forth cost per hour of that persons work, and then a good markup like 85% or so. That brings us to $11 / hour. Sounds Reasonable

The price varies greatly to who you decide to use.

If using a western country design firm you can be looking at anything fro $50 to $400 a page.

Or you can try other coders in countries like India and China an you might pay $20 per page. A good place it get an idea is by putting a bid on rentacoder.com, have be choosy though when selecting a coder.

Cheers.
