I just started a website called Ads4Auction.com. Everyone who has reviewed it says they like the design, the name and would probably use the service. Since it's been open no one has registered. How do I populate my site? Can you guys help me with this? If you have anything you could list, would you please?

I think answer is in your domain name. For populating your site, you need to do marketing and promotion of your website. You should use promotional tools like ads and put it on relevant websites.
You can also use google adwords, adsense or similar services.

Another option is to contact a few webmasters with various properties and offer them free auctions through your site for say 6 months. This way they will be coaxed into trying your service and will give you some immediate content. Also, if they like your service and it is profitable for them then they will more than likely stay.

The popularity of site depends upon your product or service and the target market. I would suggest you should create the brand awareness of your site. The brand awareness can ultimate bring the popularity of your site as well as it will create you good reputation.

You should submit to more forums for web reviews and post more articles in forum site. This can attract more visitors to visit your site and maybe able to convert them into your prospective customer.

@Eightyeight
Some suggestions:
1) write the T&Cs
2) remove the ads (at least for a while)
BTW, I will consider to register. I have some advertizing icons to sell.

I disagree on this one. That really depends on the type of visitors you're targeting.

Try some offline advertising too in your local community paper. Its cheap, the paper is distributed to hundreds of thousands and most people that read the local rag are looking for a bargan.

I think the main problem is that it is no current auctions. If you find a few populate the site, perhaps give someone a 6 month free deal as mentioned.

When I arrive at the site and see no auctions, Im discouraged to sign up.

Also, perhaps you should move the terms to another page, or have it pop-up. Its a lot to read.

I joined your site, I might be interested in bidding. Its clearly that the script is mainly to sell goods. You might want to customize the script a little. At least some of the wordings. Also there could be more categories. like entertainment, humor, webmaster

I'm trying to find a new script and someone to customize it. I got someone to do it for the script I have now but he messed it up and I never heard from him again. He never even emailed me to tell me he messed it up. I wish I still had his name he was a member of these forums. The script is expensive and the coder is too, so I'm trying to scrap up some money, maybe find an investor. Things dont look too good right now... If anyone could provide me with one of these things that'd be great.

I would start by writing articles and placing ads on places like adbrite since they can get you on very popular websites for a low cost per click.

Take care,

Erick
