Hi All,

I am new to developing a 'content rich' website, I was originally (and still is) more focused on the 'look' of the website in many ways (scripting/graphics/layout), and not so much on the cotent itself...I am starting to believe that is having a huge impact on my website's sales. Meaning I could be doing much better in the sales department if my websites content was picked up a notch or two

Can someone give me advice on how to go about building a foundation for a good 'content rich' website? I am in the wholesale business. Do I (or should I) stick with content relating to other wholesale sites? Or should it be about wholesale sites in general, or do you think it doesn't really matter? I am interested in this subject very much now, and I will consider all advice that is offered to me. If you have example sites that have content that you know has changed your websites attraction to your customers, drop me a note to let me know about it. Like I say, I am very interested in what 'worked' and still 'works' for you.

Thank you very much!
-Brian

Hi Brian,
interesting question and it really comes down to one thing:

Have you got a product or service to sell?

If you haven't got anything of your own to sell your as well trying to make money with more generalised content and monetise with CB or adwords

If however you are a program owner then you want to be specific rather than general and so a smaller foot print is more advisable.

I make money from software and adsense so I effectively do both, for my software site I have some content docs (examples) but mainly just adverts for my own stuff.

Ed.

Think about your current visitors and your desired visitors. What questions do they have, what interests do they have? Your content should address those questions (needs) and interests.
