Payment processing fees

I have been looking at different payment processing options. My site is running Joomla with a Virtuemart installed. I have looked at Verisign, 2co, and a few other companies. It appears that 2co has the lowest fees $50 upfront and $0.50 a transaction. Paypals fees would be lower on my items as they only cost about $3.00. But I don't like the idea of sending customers off site to finish payment. Does anyone have any experience with trustworthy gateways?

If you're willing to pay the $20 a month for paypal pro (I think that's what it's called) your customers don't have to leave your site.

No there's another option. The premiere works just like you say This one is the Website Payments Pro. With the pro setup customers never leave your site.

I don't think Website Payment Pro works well with Virtuemart becuase of Paypals requirement to use their express checkout. You may want to do some research on the VirtueMart forums before going this route.

I didn't realize that. Paypal has been integrated well with my billing system and it hadn't even crossed my mind it wouldn't be the same with other systems. Thanks.

I'm new to this forum but not to ecommerce...... Authorize.net as well as Paymentech are very good and reasonably priced gateways
