For those who don't already know, Google is releasing a product called GBuy which is believed to be a PayPal clone/competitor. More information can be found here:

Personally, I think it's one of those things that could really change the face of payment processing. In Canada, it could take over pretty quickly.

What do you guys think?

That's why I wear my tinfoil hat when I surf the net.

rofl. so true. but as long as they undercut paypal's rates ill switch to them immediately. $3 fund transfers make me feel like im chopping off my leg just to make a few bucks.

I'm not so sure what payment processing has to do with "organizing the worlds data" as their mission statement states. It seems to me like the have an ulterior motive, and for that reason I don't think I'd use their services. Not until I had more information anyway.

That's just it, Anacrusis: that mission statement changed a while ago, as most of them do. They really should update it.

Having said that, I wouldn't have a problem using them if they were better than PrayPal.

It would be nice to offer as many payment options as possible on ecommerce websites. Customers won't have excuses not to buy.

I am eager to integrate Gbuy on my websites.

"According to the terms of service of Google Checkout, by registering a creditdebit card with Google, you are granting them the ability to 'obtain from time to time a credit report and/or to otherwise make credit or other background inquiries as we deem appropriate to evaluate your registration for or continued use of the Service."

Kinda scary, huh?
