I have a number of questions about Privacy Policy and Terms of Use documents on websites, any information is welcome. These are just some questions i am puzzled about

What is the best way to go about creating these documents for websites without encoring legal bills?
Do these documents differ greatly between e-commerce and non e-commerce websites?
Do these documents differ from country to country?
If you are shipping your products to different countries does this effect the content of the documents?
Is there a free template generation tool for creating these documents?
Has anyone built their own template generator e.g for their intranet (I am considering this I hate going through a document and changing a few words - even with find and replace)?
Can you use a generic document for all your websites?

---

Also interested what documents and material people who run web design companies use? e.g quotes, invoices, letter headers, design specification etc

---

Please be gentle second post

First I started using the one that came with a script I was running at the time. I figured I needed it there for my and the author's protection.

Later on I read a lot of them and re-wrote mine in my own words. Like a book report. I was forced into doing this because some affialte program I wanted to use at that time required certain things be included to meet the then new privacy laws that had been enacted. Needless to say that their privacy policy was my major inspiration. But expressed in my own words.

I have since adapted those same policies to multiple sites changing only what I needed to change. You are welcome to use mine for inspiration. lexkyweb.com and the link is in the site information drop down menu far right.

You may not just copy it for I am not licensed to practice law anywhere.

thanks colbyt, I just want to make sure I am strictly legal with my privacy policys and terms and conditions on sites. Don't want to end up refunding money for no reason or in court etc. Considering buying one of these templates offered online ... perhaps i am being too paranoid:

UK Website Terms of Use Policy - Sets out the terms and conditions of use for a website.

If you are in UK the rules may be different.

My sites and I are in the States.

Ramsay,

If you are interested in reducing your legal cost for your website's Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Acceptable Use Policy, you can purchase legal templates and have a lawyer to review them for you.
